2013 Hong Kong Arts Festival to organise 2 Luncheons where Leading International Arts CEOs Share Insights on Sustaining Organisational Growth in Turbulent Economy

(Hong Kong, 11 December 2012) Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Festival, a series of two Champagne Luncheons With Leading International Arts CEOs will take place on 29 January and 20 March 2013 at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Leaders from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and San Carlo Theatre, Naples, Italy will share their insights on managing and growing their internationally acclaimed cultural institutions in challenging economic environments.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra is winner of 62 Grammy Awards and one of the world’s most critically acclaimed cultural institutions. Deborah F. Rutter, President of Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association, will in her 29 January Luncheon, titled Leadership and Leverage, reveal the art of navigating through major turbulence in the cultural sector, sharing how innovative strategies enabled her to maintain a clear leadership position within the challenging economic environment, and what it will now take to sustain organisational growth going forward.

Rosanna Purchia, General Manager of San Carlo Theatre (Teatro di San Carlo), Europe’s oldest active theatre, will reveal in the Luncheon titled Tradition and Transformation on 20 March how she balances the traditions of the venerable 275-year-old institution with contemporary realities in the rapidly evolving world of great opera through constant strategic reinvention, as well as discussing the possible future impact of current market trends.

The two Luncheons are organised by the Hong Kong Arts Festival in partnership with Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, with champagne supported by Moet & Chandon. Both Luncheons will be held from 12noon to 2pm at The Poolhouse, Grand Hyatt, and will be conducted in English.

Registration fee per person is HK$800 for each Luncheon, inclusive of a 3-course lunch and a glass of Moet & Chandon Imperial. A 10% Early Bird Discount will be offered to participants who register before Monday, 31 December 2012. About Hong Kong Arts Festival

Launched in 1973, the Hong Kong Arts Festival is a major annual international celebration of the performing arts and one of the region’s premier cultural events. Held in February and March each year, the Festival serves an audience of around 150,000. Around 150 performances take place in over a dozen venues throughout Hong Kong, supplemented by over 100 PLUS events, and 10,000 Young Friends are given special access to Festival performances and events. The Festival presents the world’s top artists as well as stars of tomorrow and gives equal importance to great traditions and contemporary creations. The Festival also commissions and produces work in theatre, chamber opera and contemporary dance; some Festival productions have toured to other Asian cities after their Hong Kong premiere.

The Festival is a non-profit organization. About 30% of its annual income is covered by government funding, about 40% by box office revenue, and around 30% comes from sponsorships and donations from corporations, individuals, and charitable foundations.
